My work is photography, I spend my days taking photos, editing photos and displaying photos. So it is no wonder then that I am a huge fan of printing images.
These days we all take photos. Most of us carry a camera with us everywhere we go, this is of course contained within our mobile phones. I know by the end of the year I will have taken thousands of these photos. Even more on my actual camera. The question is, how many photos do you actually print? How many get lost when you upgrade your phone? Perhaps you display these photos online but how many do you display at home? Do you send prints of your family to your relatives. I know this is something we used to do when I was a child. We would take some family photos, order the prints and then post them out to grandparents. Each year the photos in our house and their house would be updated, showing our family growing and changing. How many of us still do this?
I am a big advocate of printing images, anyone who has visited me can vouch for this. Be this special occasions such as our wedding photos or days out with friends and family, these are printed to display on our walls or photos to put in albums. I remember spending many an afternoon looking through old photo albums as a child, this is something I still do, each year I print a selection of photos from the year and place them in an album. There is something special about looking at a physical print compared to looking at them on screen.
