A Relaxed Sage Green Wedding at Dodford Manor, Northamptonshire
As a Dodford Manor Wedding Photographer, one of our favourite things is capturing weddings that focus on what really matters – family, laughter and genuine emotion. Emmie and James’ beautiful Dodford Manor wedding was the perfect example.
A Relaxed Family Wedding at Dodford Manor
When we first met Emmie and James, one thing was clear – their wedding wasn’t about creating a huge production or following every trend. It was about celebrating with the people they love most.
Their beautiful wedding at Dodford Manor was full of laughter, emotional moments and thoughtful personal touches that perfectly reflected them as a couple.
From an emotional first look with Emmie’s dad to Disney-inspired details and a packed dance floor, their day was everything a wedding should be: relaxed, meaningful and full of joy.
Why Dodford Manor Was The Perfect Venue
Nestled in the Northamptonshire countryside, Dodford Manor offers couples the perfect balance of rustic charm and modern elegance.
The stunning oak barn provided a beautiful setting for their ceremony, while the surrounding grounds gave us plenty of opportunities for relaxed portraits throughout the day.
One of our favourite things about Dodford Manor is how easy it is for couples to step away from the celebrations for a few quiet moments together without ever feeling disconnected from their guests.
Sage Green Styling Throughout The Day
Sage green has become one of the most popular wedding colours in recent years, and Emmie and James showed exactly why.
The bridesmaids wore elegant sage green dresses, while James and the groomsmen incorporated matching sage green details into their outfits, creating a beautifully coordinated look throughout the wedding.
The styling continued into the reception with simple but elegant white and sage green décor. Tall floral centrepieces added height and impact to the room while keeping everything feeling fresh, timeless and uncluttered.
Sometimes less really is more.

An Emotional First Look With Dad
One of the most emotional moments of the day happened before the ceremony.
Emmie’s dad saw her in her wedding dress for the first time and, like many dads, found it difficult to hold back the emotion.
These quieter moments are often some of our favourites to capture because they happen naturally and are filled with genuine feeling.
They’re often the photographs couples treasure most years later.
A Groom Who Couldn’t Hold Back The Tears
As Emmie walked down the aisle, all eyes were on James.
The emotion on his face said everything.
Seeing your partner for the first time on your wedding day is one of those moments you simply can’t recreate, and James wasn’t afraid to show exactly how much the moment meant to him.
Those genuine reactions always make for some of our favourite photographs.
Disney Details Hidden Throughout The Wedding
While the wedding wasn’t heavily themed, there were subtle Disney touches woven throughout the day.
As huge Disney fans, Emmie and James included Mickey Mouse-shaped confetti and named each reception table after a Disney film.
It was a lovely way to incorporate something meaningful to them without overwhelming the overall styling of the wedding.
With a honeymoon planned to Disneyland Paris, it felt like the perfect nod to their next adventure together.
The Groomsmen Became Flower Girls
Every wedding needs a surprise moment.
For Emmie and James, that came when the groomsmen stepped into the role of flower girls.
The reaction from guests was priceless.
The laughter instantly relaxed everyone before the ceremony and perfectly reflected the fun atmosphere that continued throughout the rest of the day.
It’s moments like these that remind everyone that weddings don’t have to be serious all the time.

Confetti In The Barn
Following the ceremony, guests lined the barn for a joyful confetti exit.
The beautiful indoor setting meant everyone could stay close together, creating an incredible atmosphere as Emmie and James made their way through a tunnel of cheers, smiles and flying confetti.
These are always some of the most energetic moments of the day.
A Cheese Tower Instead Of A Traditional Wedding Cake
Another personal touch we loved was the cheese tower.
Rather than opting for a traditional wedding cake, Emmie and James chose a stunning stacked cheese display.
Not only did it look fantastic, but it was also a huge hit with their guests and perfectly suited the relaxed feel of the day.

Entertainment That Kept Guests Laughing
Throughout the day, guests were entertained by a magician who spent time moving between groups and creating memorable moments.
This is something we often recommend to couples looking to keep guests entertained during drinks receptions, as it naturally encourages people to mingle and creates lots of genuine reactions for photographs.
One Very Special Assistant Photographer
One of the highlights for us involved one of the younger guests.
We handed one of our cameras to the flower girl and let her take some photographs of her own.
It’s something we occasionally do with children who are curious about what we’re doing, and it always helps them feel more comfortable around us.
The result?
A very proud little photographer and plenty of smiles.
Golden Hour And Sunset Portraits
As the evening arrived, we slipped away for a few relaxed couple portraits.
Dodford Manor is beautiful throughout the day, but golden hour is always something special.
The soft evening light created the perfect backdrop for natural, relaxed photographs, and we were even treated to a beautiful sunset before heading back inside to join the party.
These quiet moments together often become one of our couples’ favourite parts of the entire day.

A Dance Floor Full Of Energy
The evening celebrations finished exactly as they should.
With a packed dance floor.
Family and friends danced, laughed and celebrated together, creating the perfect ending to a day that was all about love, family and having fun.
