Newborn Photography in Milton Keynes – Safe, Calm & Full of Heart

Hi, I’m Emma – a Milton Keynes newborn photographer and mum myself. One of my greatest privileges is being trusted to photograph those precious early days with your baby.

Newborns change so quickly in the first few weeks. My goal is to gently capture their tiny features, squishy rolls and sleepy expressions in a calm, safe environment, so you have beautiful photographs to look back on long after the newborn days have passed. purplerosephotography.co.uk

Why Choose a Studio Newborn Photoshoot?

Safe, Cosy Environment
Your baby’s comfort and safety are my absolute priority. Sessions take place in my home-based Milton Keynes studio, where I control the temperature, lighting and noise to keep your little one settled and relaxed.

Baby-Led Sessions
Newborn shoots typically last around 3 hours, allowing plenty of time for feeding, cuddles and nappy changes. Your baby is always in charge – we pause whenever they need it and I never force them into positions that aren’t safe or comfortable.

Props, Wraps & Outfits Provided
I have a carefully curated collection of wraps, outfits, hairbands and teddies for you to choose from. Many of which I hand knit myself making them unique. You’re also welcome to bring special items to include in your photos.

Parents & Siblings Welcome
I love involving big brothers and sisters – and of course, parents too. This can be simple hand-holding shots if you’re camera-shy, or full family portraits cuddling your new arrival.

When Should I Book My Newborn Session?

I recommend booking your newborn photoshoot soon after your 12-week scan, so I can reserve space in my diary around your due date. Once your baby arrives, you just get in touch and we confirm a date.

The ideal time for newborn photos is between 7–14 days old, when babies are typically still very sleepy and curly, but I can work with babies up to around four weeks of age. After this, it is still possible to work with your baby but they may not want to curl up and sleep as much.

AMAZING

When we took our little boy in for his photos she had made such a calm and warm environment for him and was so good at settling him and posing him gently for the photos. We have just received our newborn photos back and they are amazing and will be such beautiful keepsakes to treasure and display and show him when he’s older. Can’t recommend purple rose photography enough! Will definitely be back for our little ones 1st birthday photos. Thankyou Emma for doing such a wonderful job and creating such beautiful memories for us.

YOUR NEWBORN SHOOT

Your newborn photo shoot will take place in my Milton Keynes based photography studio. This enables me to provide a safe and controlled environment for your little one.

Your babies safety and comfort is my priority throughout their photoshoot. I will only carry out posing which I consider is safe. If your baby needs a break we always stop. With a newborn photo shoot, your baby really is in charge, we have to work to their schedule, not ours. For this reason, my studio provides a comfy seating area for you to sit and watch, or I quiet garden if you need to step out for a moment and get some fresh air.

I always advise booking a provisional date for your session once you have your due date. Then when baby arrives contact me as soon as possible to book your date, newborn photos need to be taken in the first two weeks while the little one is still nice and sleepy.

“I photograph newborns in Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire, Bedfordshire, Northamptonshire & surrounding areas.”

YOUR QUESTIONS
When should I book?

We always suggest you book your newborn photo shoot in as soon as possible. Ideally after your 12 weeks scan. We’ll then reserve space in our diary around your due date. Then once your baby arrives we can book a time slot and date in. We can occasionally accomadate last minute bookings so do get in touch if baby is already here.

I am able to work with babies up to 4 weeks old, with 7-14 days being the ideal age to come and see me.

Where will my babies photoshoot take place?

Your babies photoshoot will take place in my home based studio in Milton keynes, situated close to the A5 for easy access to Northampton and surrounding areas. I will set up the room ahead of your arrival, so you don’t need to wait for me to be ready. We can start your shoot as soon as you baby is ready. You can then relax on the sofa and watch while I work with your little one.

How long is the photoshoot?

On average a newborn photoshoot lasts around 3hrs. It really does depend on how settled your baby is. I will give you advice before you arrive to help you encourage a sleepy baby. The whole session is lead by your baby. If your baby needs to feed, have a nappy change or cuddle from mum or dad we stop. I won’t rush or force your baby into any position they are not happy and comfortable with. Your babies safety and comfort is at the centre of everything I do.

What should I bring with me?

I have lots of wraps, outfits, hairbands and teddys which you can choose from. If you have something you would like to incorporate into the shoot bring it with you on the day.

Can siblings be involved in some photos?

Of course they can. I love to get big brothers and sisters involved. Let me know if this is something you would like to do. We’ll discuss beforehand the various ways we can do this depending on the age of your other children.

Can parents be involved in some photos?

I love to get parents involved. This can just be your hands holding your baby if your a little shy or we can photograph you cradeling your baby, perhaps even getting your other children involved.

When will my photos be ready?

Around a week after your newborn photoshoot you will be invited back to view and select your images. These will have been carefully selected and edited ready for you to view.

How will I receive my images?

After your viewing session I will do any final tweaks to your image. Once complete I will send you a link to download your gallery. If have chosen to order any wall art as part of your package or an album I will order this and let you kow when it is ready for collection.
